Tips for Finding Continuing Education Credits

  • Where do you work? Your employer may have some resources available to you via your library or databases that are subscribed to. You can definitely obtain free CEUs if you have access to Nursing Reference Center Plus or DynaMed.
  • Do you know who your librarian is? I promise they will have ideas for you and may be your best route! If you are not sure who your librarian or library team is through your employer, please let us know where you are employed and we can try to figure it out for you!

Are you a professional member somewhere, like ANA or another agency? Those places often provide free CEUs for their members.

Discounted CEUs:

There are some websites that may have discounted CEUs for you. Some of the sites on this page require registration which is free. Be sure to check the intended audience for each CE module.

  • Online CEUs: a Directory for Nurses
    Be sure to check the provider's website for accreditation, terms, and conditions of service. Free offerings from this site may be accessed here.
  • AHRQ CE for Nurses
    CEUs for APNs, nurse educators, or nurse administration. 
  • ANA Continuing Online Education
    Continuing education modules are free for members. CE is free at this site for members of ANA.
  • Illinois Nurses Association
    Prices for courses at this site vary according to specialty, institution, and degree. There is a discount for multiple courses, and referring someone to the site grants a free hour of credit.
  • Nursing CEs by ATI is a brand of Assessment Technologies Institute, LLC (ATI Nursing Education).
  • Nursing Spectrum Division of Continuing Education
    Accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation, the site offers unlimited CE for $34.99.
  • RN
    For a membership fee of $48, this site offers unlimited CE; however, there are offered free courses that change once a month.
  • Wild Iris Medical Education
    ANCC Accredited Continuing Education for Nurses

Make sure you know your state requirements and be sure that whatever resources you choose is backed up and accredited. You can do this by verification.

School of Emerging Education

For most courses in the School of Emerging Education we will make every attempt to apply to the appropriate licensing boards for your seminar. We are a CCNE, PACE, ASRT, and NCCAOM approved provider and will apply to each board for seminars specific to those professionals. It is your responsibility to confirm that approval from state or specialty boards has been requested. Contact the School of Emerging Education at to confirm or request additional states or state boards (a fee may apply).
