• Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC): CDC works to protect America from health, safety and security threats, both foreign and in the U.S. Whether diseases start at home or abroad, are chronic or acute, curable or preventable, human error or deliberate attack, CDC fights disease and supports communities and citizens to do the same. While this is a public resource, it's an excellent resource for health care professionals too. 

• Illinois Department of Human Services: Community Health Nursing: Public Health Nurses function as consultants in five regions of the State of Illinois. Their scope of practice is promoting and protecting the health of populations using a body of knowledge from nursing, epidemiology, social, behavioral, and public health sciences. Nursing practice involves environmental health, current treatment modalities, healthcare options, healthcare policy, and research.

• Nurse-Family Partnerships: The Nurse-Family Partnership National Service Office is a non-profit organization that provides implementing agencies with the specialized expertise and support needed to deliver Nurse-Family Partnership with fidelity to the model – so that each community can see comparable outcomes.

• TheCommunityGuide: A website that houses the official collection of all Community Preventive Services Task Force (Task Force) findings and the systematic reviews on which they are based. It is also a credible resource with many uses because it is based on a scientific systematic review process and answers questions critical to almost everyone interested in community health and well-being.

• Quad Council Competencies for Public Health Nurses: This organization was founded in the early 1980’s to address priorities for public health nursing education, practice,  leadership, and research, and as the voice for public health nursing.
